Eric Jones

Eric Jones was born and raised in Pontarddulais. After leaving University of Wales, Cardiff with a degree in Music, his teaching career started in Llanelli, before moving on to Ysgol Mynyddbach, Swansea, Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr, and finally a head teacher at Ysgol Bro Myrddin, retiring in 2006.
He is a Fellow of Trinity College, London and for his contribution to music in Wales he was made an honorary member of The Gorsedd of the Bards. He became President of Pontarddulais Male Voice Choir in 2004 after serving the choir as accompanist for eighteen years between 1973 and 1991.
As a composer, he has published seven volumes of songs, as well as a substantial number of choral pieces that have proved to be very popular with choirs in Wales as well as worldwide. Côr Llanddarog a’r cylch have recorded an album solely of choral musics by Eric Jones – Gweithiau Corawl Eric Jones (Sain SCD2752 www.sainwales.com). In addition, he has composed extended religious works as well as music for the theatre. There is much demand for his work today as a composer and adjudicator and he is busy working on many commissioned pieces. He is married to Gwen and has children and grandchildren.
